Trump buys mansion adjacent to family winery

Donald Trump yesterday purchased the mansion on the Kluge estate in Charlottesville, Va., the Washington Post reported. The real estate magnate had already owned the vineyard, Trump Winery, and other land on the estate.
In a video on the Trump Winery?s website, Eric Trump details the extent of his family?s renovations to the winery since acquiring it nearly a year ago.
?Now we?ve got to find out what?s next,? Eric Trump told the Post.
There are several options, including converting the estate?s land into a golf course, converting the house into an inn or flipping it, along with up to 500 acres of land, while keeping the vineyard in operation.
The $6.5 million price paid for the mansion marks a significant discount. Patricia Kluge, who received the whole property in the wake of her divorce from the late media mogul John Kluge, defaulted on her loans. Bank of America held a $22.8 million mortgage for the mansion and bought it back for $16 million.
The 23,000-square-foot home has 45 rooms, eight of which are bedrooms and 13 of which are bathrooms. There?s also a private chapel and a helicopter landing pad. It?s located down the road from Monticello, President Thomas Jefferson?s historic estate. [Washington Post]?? Zachary Kussin
