Poll: Michigan Car Insurance Change

Gov. Rick Snyder is planning to unveil a proposal to end unlimited lifetime coverage for medical expenses tied to auto accidents.

The Republican governor and GOP lawmakers have scheduled a Thursday news conference to announce their plan. Drivers now pay $175 per car per year to cover catastrophic injuries, and the fee is rising to $186 this summer.

The insurance lobby and other critics say Michigan's unique requirement for unlimited medical coverage is too expensive. Hospitals and others say it should stay intact.

Snyder is expected to propose capping personal injury protection coverage at one million dollars.

Past attempts to limit medical coverage have stalled in the Legislature. Snyder made the issue a priority in his January State of the State address, giving hope to proponents of changing the system.

Tonight in the Daily Pulse we're wondering: Would you support a plan to end unlimited lifetime coverage for medical expenses tied to auto accidents? Yes or no? Why or why not?
